TechNExt is the tech festival for the North East, hosted by a partnership of North East businesses and stakeholders working collaboratively to shape the event. The festival is funded by local authority partnerships, ticket revenue and sponsorship.
A festival steering committee brings together key collaborators and plans are developing across a multitude of stakeholders.
The North East tech sector continues to grow
There is alignment across all local authority areas that digital and tech can catalyse
economic growth
Our regional sector support organisations are working in tandem
There is momentum from industry wanting to participate
The North East needs to stay at the forefront of the national tech radar
The festival has been created with the intention of being accessible in all senses. The festival programme is a diverse collaboration of curated and community designed and led fringe events covering all aspects of the tech sector across the regions of the North East.
The 3000+ attendees will encompass a wide range of interest parties, stakeholders and community groups. From launching the festival in January 2023 the ambition was set to make the festival programme truly accessible, considering those with different protected characteristics and how to meet their needs, with the aim to make the events as welcoming as possible. Attendees will include but not be limited to:
North East businesses
Academic institutions
National business looking to invest in the North East
Individuals looking to move into the North East tech sector
Public sector – local authorities and national government
Funders and support organisations
Interested members of the community
Young people interested in tech
All programmed events that are community designed and led will be free to attend and be based on a first come first served basis until capacity is met. There will be a ticket price for the following curated events: the Main Stage, Industry Dinner and the Festival Party.
The festival is planned as a Good Festival with ‘for good’ being a core value that will run through everything, as well as a Festival Code of Conduct provided to all event organisers. This will ensure a focus on quality, inclusivity, diversity, accessibility, and sustainability. The funded ticket ballot has now closed, however we may have some more tickets become available in the run up to the festival.
